If I was the Principal

If I was the Principal of this school
I would introduce several new rules
This class is so boring I'm beginning to yawn
I shouldn't have woken at the crack of dawn...

Bright lights! Huge hall! I'm up on a stage!
I'm wearing a suit and I'm holding a page!
But the paper is blank and I feel like a fool...
Because my audience is the entire school!

I'm beginning to sweat and shake nervously,
All of the students are staring at me.
The seconds are turning to hours so long,
But inspiration comes in the form of a song.

"Oh, I'm the principal of this school,
And I'm going to introduce several new rules!
I think you kids should have more time to play,
So I'll just add a month to your holiday!"

The surprise on the students' faces turns to joy,
Everyone's celebrating, girl and boy.
"More holidays" to them is a wonderful sound,
So I decided to sing another round.

"Dear teachers! Please be happy today,
For I will greatly increase your pay.
If you fulfill this easy task...
Get rid of homework, that's all that I ask!"

"And hear me now students, for I say,
That P.E classes will be everyday!
And only four day a week the school will run,
Giving you a three day weekend full of fun!"

By now all had turned completely wild!
Cries of delight from every adult and child!
Everyone was cheering, not a single groan,
I was the most popular principal the world had known...

The teacher shouted and I woke with a fright,
She asked if I thought it was the middle of night.
She said, as punishment for playing the fool,
I was to be sent to the PRINCIPAL OF THE SCHOOL!
